More Information

1. Sign Up

Age: Must be at least 18 years old. Unfortunately, we cannot currently accept individuals under 18 years of age, but this may change in the future.

Location: Anywhere! We often run sessions remotely, so you can still take part even if you're not near our office in Irvine, CA.

Language: Studies are currently conducted in English, but we encourage everyone to sign up as we'll be expanding available languages over time.

Experience: If you’re wondering if you’re the right person for this, the answer is simple: YES! It doesn't matter if you've been playing Blizzard games for decades or if you’ve never played a video game in your life--your feedback is important to us.

2. Share Your Thoughts

If you’re selected for a study, there are many ways that we might ask you to participate, for example:

  • Playtest: Play one of our games and provide feedback by answering questions. A playtest can be done in our lab or remotely from your home.
  • Survey: Fill in a digital questionnaire based on your general experiences, attitudes, or opinions. Surveys can be done remotely from your home.
  • Usability Study: Perform a set of tasks in a game or interface. Usability studies can be done in our labs or remotely from your home.
  • Interviews: Talk with a member of our research team about your experiences with our games or products. These interviews can be done in our labs or remotely from your home.

Sessions lengths can range from 1 hour to multiple days. Don’t worry, we'll let you know what to expect before you agree to participate.

3. Get Rewards
We offer our thanks and gratitude to everyone who participates, but we know you can’t buy Hearthstone packs with that. That’s why we also offer rewards to eligible participants in a few different ways: Battle.net Balance, Gift Cards, and potentially some awesome physical Blizzard swag. It's also worth mentioning the hands-on experience with unreleased content, which we also think is pretty damn cool.

Who Are We?

We're Blizzard's research team. We are a curious and inquisitive bunch of game lovers, and we've dedicated our career to giving an objective voice to our players from around the world. We come from a diverse background but are united in our vision to hear and learn from our players' experiences. Your honest and candid feedback is our path to identifying problems in the experience of our games. Every voice we hear is an opportunity to make the gaming experience better for everyone.

FAQ

What should I expect after I sign-up?
After you sign-up you will be eligible to take part in our tests. We will contact you via email when we have a test coming up, and you will be able to let us know if you are available to participate. Don't worry if you can't make it, there will always be more opportunities.
I don't play Blizzard games (or games in general). Should I sign-up?
Absolutely, yes. We want to hear from folks just like you with a range of experiences both in and outside our games. We feel that everyone's voice matters, so please share yours with us!
Can I tell my friends, share online, what I see or do in a study?

Nope. We know that it's exciting to be part of something like this, but we're only able to keep doing it because of your discretion. If details about what you experience leak then it's a disappointment for everyone and it makes it hard for us to keep doing these studies.

I've been contacted about a study! Now what?

You should have received details about the date and time of the test and directions on how to connect with us in the initial email. However, if anything is unclear or you have additional questions, reach out to us at Research@Blizzard.com

I can't make it to the study anymore, what do I do?

Sign-in to the participant page and select the study that you have been scheduled for. From there you can let us know that you can't make it. Alternatively, email us at Research@Blizzard.com and let us know. There is no penalty if you can't make it, we know that life happens. With luck we may be able to reschedule you for a different time or we'll contact you again for a new study.

I'm no longer interested in participating. How do I opt out?

We're sad to see you go, but the process is quick and painless. Sign into the research portal and follow the 'forget me' steps provided.

Is this a job, or can it lead to a job at Blizzard?

This is not a job and completely voluntary. We do not use your participation in these studies for recruiting or career consideration.

Will I get a tour or meet the design team if I'm onsite?

Unfortunately, no. If you are invited to an onsite study, you'll meet the research team and stay in our corner of the campus. If you would like to sign-up for a tour, please check here: https://www.blizzard.com/en-us/company/about/tours-faq.html
