Web Layout/UI Designer

Blizzard Entertainment has an immediate opening for a web layout/user interface designer. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of information architecture and interface usability and has experience leveraging this knowledge to help plan, organize, and structure web sites, application flows, and UI screens. The web layout/UI designer must be adept at blueprinting and constructing the foundations of complex designs but does need not be a master web graphic artist nor a skilled coder. The ideal candidate must be a great verbal and written communicator as he or she must collaborate with a multitude of individuals to generate and maintain design documentation, present ideas for feedback and iteration, and help facilitate and coordinate the implementation of a project from start to successful completion.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of website usability principles and information architecture
  • Project management experience related to building websites and applications
  • Ability to design layout/UI storyboards and process flowcharts
  • Awareness of current trends in web and UI design
  • Analytical mind capable of translating competitive analysis, industry trends, log/stats analysis, and user feedback into actionable insights on UI and process design
  • Excellent documentation and presentation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative
Responsibilities

  • Use information architecture to plan, organize, and structure new and existing websites
  • Create clean workflows for complex processes
  • Visualize the content and functionality of new web pages and UI screens using block layout grids
  • Create and maintain project design documentation
  • Present conceptualized designs and coordinate with individuals inside and outside of team to incorporate feedback and develop consensus

Please send a cover letter, resume, and portfolio to: resumes@blizzard.com.

Your portfolio should contain URLs of sites that show your design sense and creativity. Also, as part of the portfolio, please consider creating a Blizzard-related sample layout and implementation (so we can review the coding). The work you submit should demonstrate how you would create a Blizzard-themed page. Examples of appropriate submissions would be a Blizzard product page (such as http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burningcrusade/) or a page based on some aspect of a Blizzard game (such as http://www.battle.net/war3/nightelf).

Basic Tips for Resume/Demo Submission
