Battle.net Programmer

A Battle.net programmer is responsible for building and maintaining the Battle.net infrastructure that underlies all of our games. Battle.net programmers will develop and improve technologies that service the millions of gamers who enjoy Blizzard games on Battle.net.

Qualities we look for: We are looking for candidates who have worked with one or more computer languages and are interested in working with various application servers and databases. We are also looking for candidates who are hard-working and dependable, who have a strong desire to learn, and who have an extra-curricular interest in technology. Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills and a passion for games.

Here are the 'ideal' skills that a candidate should know.

  • Strong C/C++ programming skills. Knowledge of TCP/UDP networking and familiarity with client/server and peer-to-peer network development
  • Worked with and developed multiple platforms, such as Windows/Linux/*BSD
  • Familiarity with networking protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, SNMP, SSL
  • Scripting language experience (Perl, Python, Ruby, Lua)
  • Relational database programming knowledge (SQL, TSQL, PL/SQL)
  • Web development knowledge (XHTML, XML, XSLT, XSD, CSS)
