3D Animators:
3D character animators animate both in-game and pre-rendered cinematic characters. Animators play a critical role in any studio since they are responsible for breathing life into the characters and objects in the simulated worlds we create.
Qualities we look for: Blizzard Entertainment is looking for enthusiastic and talented people who will fit into our team culture. Candidates must be passionate about playing and making computer games and be able to excel in a team environment. The bar is extremely high. We scour the globe looking for world-class animators; from professional FX and animation houses to top universities, technical schools, and Internet communities with self-taught artists. Primarily we look for talent, but we also want team players with great attitudes.
How to get in: Blizzard looks at an individual's skills rather than focusing solely on previous experience. Bear in mind, however, that animation is one of the toughest disciplines to break into. If you are trying to get into the industry, you should be able to demonstrate a solid grasp and knowledge of the principles of animation: anticipation, follow-through, squash, stretch, weight, subtlety, exaggeration, and other facets of both 2D and 3D animation. A great animation reel demonstrates skill at realistically animating the movements of humanoids, beasts, and machines at a level that lives up to the ever-increasing Blizzard standard of quality. Reels should be simple and clear and show strong attention to detail. Reels should include a small amount of your best work, not everything you have ever done. An animator breathes life into a character through their animation. Characters and situations should be fully formed, fully fleshed out, and completely polished. Candidates must also be well-versed in related tools-3DS Max, Character Studio, Maya, etc.
