Shader/Look Development Supervisor
Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled shader/look development supervisor who will oversee a team that consists of both artists
and engineers. Some team members will code shaders while others will use their artistic eye to develop the look, feel, and final surfaces of the cinematic
models. A successful supervisor will need to have both a technical/coding background and an artistic eye.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the design and implementation of RenderMan shader pipeline
- Drive the design, creation, and maintenance of basic shader libraries written in RSL or RSL2
- Evaluate shaders/renders on both a technical and aesthetic level, ensuring the timely delivery of completed assets that match what the director is looking for
- Work closely with modeling, lighting, and tech team in the design and implementation of special-case shaders
- Lead the creation and delivery of all production assets
- Define and oversee quality standards, good-practices, and organization of optimized production assets
- Train and support team on all practices related to shader production
Requirements:
- Experience with RenderMan Shading Language, Mental Ray API, Brazil API, or equivalent
- Solid understanding of basic illumination, shading and modeling
- Strong eye for aesthetics and understanding of how to direct/achieve a desired look
- Excellent communication and organization skills
Pluses:
- C, C++, C#, Python, or MEL skills
- Experience leading a team
