Associate Editor
Blizzard Entertainment's public relations team seeks a seasoned editor with excellent communication and organization skills
to draft and refine company messaging and carry out a variety of interdepartmental editorial projects. In addition to being
able to quickly produce high-quality written content, the associate editor must have impeccable time-management skills; be
able to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment; and be able to draw on
previous experience to support and, where possible, improve the team's editorial procedures.
In addition, this person will be expected to stay current on PR-communication strategies and techniques as well as key
topics in the game industry. The ideal candidate will be a highly self-motivated, deadline-driven, detail-oriented individual
with a passion for excellence in communication and a dedication to consistently meeting team objectives. Excellent
interpersonal skills and a wide-ranging knowledge of Blizzard Entertainment games are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, proof, and polish external and internal messaging, including emails, FAQs, press releases, web content, speeches, PowerPoint presentations, and more
- Coordinate public-communication efforts with domestic and international teams
- Work with representatives from other departments to help establish and improve internal-communication procedures and public-communication standards
- Interview Blizzard Entertainment developers to gather data for written assignments
- Maintain the public relations style guide and develop and update the public relations intranet website
- Implement consistent document-control procedures and manage the public relations file system
- Additional projects and duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 3-5 years editorial, PR, or journalism experience
- Ability to quickly compose and edit a variety of creative and business-oriented texts that meet company standards, under demanding deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills
- Proficiency with MS Office products, including MS PowerPoint and advanced features of MS Word
- Ability to focus and multitask in a fast-paced environment and with minimal supervision
- Ability to exercise good independent judgment and discretion
- Extensive knowledge of games and the game industry, including Blizzard Entertainment products and company history
- Strong knowledge of English grammar and usage, and solid proofreading skills
- Experience using style and grammar references, including Chicago Manual of Style
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
- Familiarity with PR and legal processes preferred
Pluses:
- Technical and/or creative writing experience
- Crisis-management experience
- Web-development experience
