Assistant Editor
Blizzard Entertainment's public relations team seeks a skilled editor and writer to research, write, and edit public
relations communications for a variety of audiences both internal and external to Blizzard. The assistant editor's work
must be well-written, engaging, and accurate; meet business objectives; and be delivered on time. In addition to exhibiting
excellent interpersonal skills, the ideal candidate will be a conscientious communicator who is familiar with Blizzard
Entertainment products, excels in a collaborative environment, and is passionate about gaming and language arts.
Furthermore, the assistant editor will maintain a working knowledge of all public relations, website, and community-related
functions and be able to adapt to various communication styles in support of those functions. In addition, the assistant
editor will be deadline-driven and will always ensure that finished assignments meet Blizzard Entertainment�s standards.
A service-oriented attitude and a detail-oriented approach to comprehending and communicating on a wide range of topics
related to technology, law, and games is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Write and edit external and internal documents covering a wide variety of business, technical, and legal topics
- Assignments will include: press releases, email correspondence, website content, newsletters, speeches, FAQs, business letters, PowerPoints, and more
- Support the communication objectives of the community, web, and service teams
- Draft and refine messaging for tradeshows, executive presentations, HR activities, and other company events
- Co-develop shared messaging with third-party content providers
- Update the public relations intranet website
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- B.A. in journalism or English, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of two years professional writing/editing experience, with demonstrated excellence in both
- Strong knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and usage, and solid proofreading skills
- Proficiency with MS Office products, including advanced features of MS Word
- Experience using style and grammar references, including Chicago Manual of Style
- Ability to exercise good independent judgment and discretion
- Ability to consistently avoid distractions and stay focused on the work at hand
- Strict attention to detail and demonstrated organization and time-management skills
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
- Knowledge of PR and legal processes preferred
Pluses:
- Technical and/or creative writing experience
