Online Ad Sales Director

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an online ad sales director. This person will be responsible for working with top consumer marketers and their advertising agencies to increase existing advertising revenues and create new sponsorship relationships. The online ad sales director will develop new program initiatives, execute the entire sales process with new advertiser prospects, structure and negotiate contracts, work across internal departments to implement new ad deals, and evaluate technology needs against existing resources.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of ad operations: interacting with clients, agencies, and networks, securing and queuing creative, projecting inventory, assisting with developing plans and managing inventory, trafficking ads, developing reports, optimizing campaigns, and assisting accounting department with reporting and invoicing.
  • Interface with related department: business development, accounting, legal, development, online technologies, engineering.
  • Work with product teams to develop a slate of next-generation, high-value advertising opportunities (e.g., integrated ad spots, advanced targeting capabilities, offline efforts).
  • Represent Blizzard Entertainment's brand and interests effectively to partners.
  • Identify new revenue opportunities based on industry best-practices, competitor efforts, and client needs.
  • Develop key processes and be a vocal part of the business development team.
  • Manage all online partner relationship activities including identification/evaluation, framework development, contract signing, and partnership optimization.
  • Drive new partnerships, extend existing ones, and ensure prompt and proper resolution of business issues and bottlenecks.
  • Forecast and report revenue and other key metrics and track progress against agreed-upon goals.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of market dynamics, consumer needs, and competitive strategies.
  • Provide leadership on all forms of digital media including exploration of emerging media channels or approaches.
  • Ensure adherence to standards and contractual obligations as outlined in partnership framework.
  • Create a sales plan to grow advertising revenues and build tournament sponsorship relationships.
  • Call on targeted advertisers and their agencies to negotiate and close sales.
  • Develop creative ideas for ad buys and sponsorships. Create proposals, sell them internally, and present them to prospective business partners.
  • Provide input to the management team on new product or service features to be developed to meet current and future customer needs.
  • Work with the finance team on account collection and billing management.
  • Report on sales and activity.
Requirements
  • MBA or equivalent post-graduate academic credentials in business, marketing, or related field
  • 7+ years proven expertise in progressively senior online marketing, business development, and partner management roles
  • Strong knowledge of interactive advertising strategies and tactics as well as deep familiarity with mobile, digital media, entertainment, and subscription-based business models
  • Ability to perform well and achieve high-quality results within a dynamic, growing, and cross-cultural global organization.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, budget management expertise, and analytical prowess
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable experience in collaborating cross-functionally
  • Ability to grow with the job, flexibility, and willingness to tackle new opportunities
  • Ability to work independently, while being open to direction and guidance and proactively staying in touch with management
  • Negotiation skills, particularly in matching client needs with editorial capabilities
  • Expertise with Doubleclick/DFP, HTML, Javascript, Flash, and Rich Media Technologies.
