Associate Database Developer

Blizzard Entertainment's global network operations department has an immediate need for an associate database developer. This person would assist the database group in developing shell scripts and stored procedures to automate, monitor, and improve database processes running on both Oracle and mySQL. This position requires experience with Linux/Unix and a general understanding of relational database technology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop code to automate manual tasks and maintenance routines.
  • Coordinate deployment of fixes and new code from development to production.
  • Monitor incoming tickets from the network operations helpdesk and provide support where required.
  • Work with end users to ensure smooth production rollouts of application code.
  • Assist senior database staff on individual projects as directed.
Requirements

  • Experience with Linux, HP-UX, AIX, or Solaris
  • Understanding of shell scripts, stored procedures, or other automation routines
  • Ability to work across technical groups and under pressure
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail

Pluses

  • Experience writing and tuning SQL statements
  • Experience developing stored procedures using PL/SQL
  • Familiarity with source/revision control
  • Passion for games
