Senior 3D Level Designer

The Diablo III team is looking for a skilled senior 3D level designer with experience building levels using Maya or other similar 3D level-building tools. The ideal candidate has created levels on a shipped game. We would also like for this candidate to have excellent analytical understanding of competitive online play with various Blizzard Entertainment games and mods (real-time strategy, World of Warcraft, Defense of the Ancients, etc.). The senior level designer needs to be able to create fun and interesting environments that look and play great while mentoring the junior members of the level design team. Skills in scripting or general 3D modeling/texturing are preferred.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience creating levels in Maya or other 3D level editors
  • Ability to model interesting architecture and environments in 3D
  • Ability to script interesting cinematic sequences using in-game art
  • Great sense for what makes a game or level fun to play
  • Passion for games
  • Ability to work well in a team environment

Pluses

  • Online play experience with various Blizzard Entertainment games and mods (real-time strategy, World of Warcraft, Defense of the Ancients, etc.)
  • Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including but not limited to figure drawing and environmental and/or architectural illustration
Applicants must include a map submission with the application. If you have worked on maps in published products, you may submit the names of the levels you worked on with your resume. You may submit 1-3 maps from any game for review.

Please include a breakdown for each level that describes what you did (layout, progression, inspiration, intention, modeling, textures, lighting, triggers, etc.).
