Lead 3D Level Designer

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a skilled lead 3D level designer with experience building levels using Maya or other similar 3D tools to work on a next-gen MMO. The ideal candidate has experience creating levels in a senior or lead role and has developed exterior and interior environments for a shipped MMO. The lead level designer needs to be able to create fun and interesting environments that look and play great while managing and mentoring a team of additional level designers. Skills in scripting or general 3D modeling/texturing are preferred.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience creating 3D environments in Maya or other 3D level editors
  • Ability to create environments from concept to completion
  • Ability to model interesting architecture--both organic and structural
  • Ability to manage and direct a team of other level designers
  • Great sense for what makes a fun experience for MMO environments
  • Passion for games
  • Ability to work well in a team environment

Pluses:

  • Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including but not limited to figure drawing and environmental and/or architectural illustration

If you have worked on maps in published products, you may submit the names of the levels you worked on with your resume. You may submit 1-3 maps from any game for review. Please include a breakdown for each level that describes what you did (layout, progression, inspiration, intention, modeling, textures, lighting, scripting, etc.). Please send the level(s) as well as a cover letter, resume, and salary history in separate Word format documents to resumes@blizzard.com.
