Cinematics Engineer

Blizzard Entertainment's cinematics tech team is looking for an experienced cinematics engineer with strong scripting and programming skills to develop webpages, databases, and tools to monitor the render farm, gather performance statistics, generate reports on system behavior, and automate the management of our render farm and server infrastructure.

A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of CG/VFX environments and experience working with large render farms.He or she will be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as function effectively as part of a team. The candidate will also be detail-oriented with solid documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop webpages, databases, and tools to monitor and manage the render farm, storage, and server infrastructure.
  • Generate and present reports on system behavior, performance, stability, and usage.
  • Manage render and production data on our file servers.
  • Monitor and manage renders on our render farm.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in systems administration, preferably in a CG/VFX or other large-scale computing environment
  • Significant Python and/or Perl scripting experience
  • Web development and PHP programming experience
  • Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers
  • SQL database design and implementation skills
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Strong self-motivation and time management
  • A passion for animation and games
Pluses
  • Experience in a large animation studio or similar production environment
  • Maya or Renderman experience
  • Experience working with large-scale NetApp filer deployments
  • Windows server or desktop administration experience
  • Active Directory administration experience
  • OSX desktop administration experience
