Please refer to the guidelines below which outline the different Subcategories for your Warcraft Art submission(s). Winners of these Subcategories are eligible to receive the Secondary Prize Package. The overall best artwork in the Warcraft Category is eligible to win the Warcraft Grand Prize Package!

WARCRAFT®: 3D Environment
subcategory

Model and texture an original 3D environment inspired by the Warcraft Universe.

Your 3D environment creation can be an existing Warcraft environment, an existing Warcraft environment that incorporates your artistic twist on it, or even a brand new environment you think would fit within the Warcraft Universe (more info here).

An environment is either:

  • An interior or exterior of an architectural structure
  • An outdoor landscape, geological or organic formation,
  • Any other world object from any of the Warcraft games, books or other Warcraft products.
Poly Count
  • Please stay under 5000 polygons (dependent on the complexity of your Warcraft Character) to be considered for this category.
Note: This is a Warcraft 3D Environment Contest and not specifically a World of Warcraft Environment Contest. If you choose to attempt WOW's specific style however, keep in mind that WOW tends to employ even lower poly counts. Environmental structures/objects are anywhere between 1000 and 5000 polygons dependent on size and complexity to give you a general idea. The hand-painted textures are also the key to getting the most out of your limited poly count.

What is a "Character" in Warcraft?

  • A creature
  • A monster
  • Or any playable or non-playable character from any of the Warcraft games, books or other Warcraft products.
Poly Count
  • Please stay under 5000 polygons (dependent on the complexity of your Warcraft Character) to be considered for this category.
Note: This is a Warcraft 3D Character Contest and not specifically a World of Warcraft Character Contest. If you choose to model and texture a pre-existing race or character in WOW and are attempting to match WOW’s poly counts and style however, focus on the armor and a weapon that the character might use to showcase your originality. Also avoid putting a helm on the character as a helm can impede your ability to showcase facial modeling skills. Keep in mind that WOW characters should not exceed 2000 polys. The hand-painted textures are also the key to getting the most out of your limited poly count.
